I&#039;ve learned from experience that sleep is crucially important to cycling.  Even for recreational cyclists like me.  Even if I&#039;m in bed, but awake, I&#039;m just not running at full steam the next day.  There are the obvious things, like it&#039;s much harder to pull myself out of bed, and I have less motivation, but it&#039;s more subtle, too;  my legs haven&#039;t recovered as much from yesterday&#039;s riding.  I&#039;ve learned this is true enough (eg it wasn&#039;t just that one time) that I actually plan my social life around it.  But I&#039;ve never really known *why* it&#039;s true.  Thanks for cluing me in!  :D]]></description>
